Georgina works in a shop that sells dance apparel and makeup that glitters like dew on a birthday morning. She’s an Egyptian goddess reincarnated into human form. It does not concern her that her face is plain and her expressions wire together like telephone poles. When the shop’s empty she changes shape, curling fabric and needle into embroidery. Material sighs as she pulls out a skein the colour of her lips. She weaves fibres like a deity, not an angry being that smites from the pages of a book but a delicate essence who accepts unconditionally. Her fingers run through the locks of her creation and explain, ‘we will provide’.

Thank you very much. I am writing prose poems at the moment without much direction. That sounds bad but it isn’t – it means I am not trying to put collections together or aim for a goal – just writing when I have the time and because I enjoy it.
There’s nothing wrong with that. In fact, I said to Mr P the other day that I’d like to learn some new art songs and arias from early opera just for the fun of it, rather than music that I’m told to learn. For me, my singing has lost its spark because I’m rarely given the opportunity to learn anything that I feel a love factor for. Also, I’m often made to sing up too high, just because I can (at a pinch, these days) but would rather develop my mezzo/contralto range.
So yes, you enjoy your writing 🙂
